Built in 1948, the Ridglea Theater is a magnificent, "art decoish" theater, located in the prestigious and historic West Side of Fort Worth. When originally opened, the Ridglea was a proud theater, complete with a grand staircase leading up to the huge, beautiful balcony. It was THE place to view films. The four story tower with Ridglea in green neon and beautiful marquee with its antique pink neon flowers are a landmark in the area, with more than 8,000 cars passing by each day. Inside the lobby, the terrazzo floor leads into a second lobby area which often serves as a place to escape from the crowds, relax and visit with friends before joining the throngs inside the main theater again. Now, this 23,000 square foot building has become one of the premier entertainment spaces in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The Ridglea's primary role is a live music venue, with bands vying for concert dates in the beautiful main theater. The building is also utilized as a host for corporate events, private parties, weddings, wedding receptions and other parties your imagination may design. The main theater can easily accommodate a thousand people and has a three-story custom screen, which provides a backdrop for lights, slide presentations and special effects. The balcony has been transformed and the upstairs contains two, one hundred + seat theaters and a lobby bar from which the floor to ceiling, antique murals depicting Blackbeard and his pirate crew on one wall and Cortez with his crew on the other, are plainly visible.
